Government & Community Liaison
Port Authority is seeking a Government & Community Liaison to serve as a liaison with elected officials and community organizations for local municipalities. Works to advance Port Authority’s local municipal priorities and to improve community relations.
Essential Functions• Represents Port Authority’s interest before the local municipalities as well as other government agencies, school districts, community and transit groups. Serves as liaison between the Authority and elected officials and their staff for constituent issues relative to Port Authority and public transportation, engaging other Port Authority divisions and departments as necessary. • Analyzes local proposals and community concerns for impact on the Authority and prepares summaries for review. Researches and monitors policies, actions and regulations affecting public agencies, school districts, transit operators, transportation planning and development activities. Flags potential issues related to transportation; recommends follow-up activities. • Develops a municipal program for the CEO to improve communications and relationships with local officials and communities. Identifies opportunities and recognizes potential public concerns. • Works with PAAC divisions and departments to provide input on municipal matters and community requests. Drafts correspondence and communications regarding projects, community outreach, inquiries, etc. to advance the mission of the Authority.
Job Requirements
• BA/BS degree in Political Science, Communication, Urban Planning, Political Science or directly related field from an accredited school. • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in federal, state or county legislative activities and policy development, or transit management experience. • Experience working with community outreach efforts and activities. • Experience working with governmental officials, community leaders and businesses. • Effective and professional communication skills. • Valid PA driver’s license. • Ability to coordinate various complex work assignments on short notice. • Demonstrated ability in the use of Windows and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. • Must be willing to take on duties outside of regular business hours.
